A major
landslide occurred early this evening in the mountainous area of Khindi Pada,
Bhandup West, opposite Omega School. The incident led to the collapse of a
production (retaining) wall along with part of a residential structure situated
at the top of the wall
Local
authorities, including officials from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation
(BMC) and Mumbai Bhandup Police, rushed to the scene immediately upon receiving
reports of the landslide. Thankfully, no casualties or injuries have been
reported so far. Said Bhandup police Officer
According to
initial information, the landslide was likely triggered due to continuous
rainfall over the past few days, weakening the soil structure in the hilly
region. One house sustained damage, but all residents were safely evacuated in
time.
Police
personnel and BMC disaster management teams are on-site, assessing the extent
of damage and ensuring safety precautions are in place to prevent further
incidents. Barricades have been set up, and nearby residents are being advised
to remain alert and cooperate with emergency services.
Authorities are
monitoring the situation closely and are expected to issue further advisories
if necessary.
