Mumbai, May 18, 2025 — In a shocking incident around 4:45 PM this evening, a woman driver sustained serious injuries in an accident near the new flyover bridge on the Mulund-Goregaon Link Road, close to Nahur. The mishap is believed to have been caused by rash driving, with the vehicle reportedly speeding between 60 to 80 km/h at a sharp diversion near the under-construction bridge. According to eyewitnesses, the driver lost control, causing the vehicle to veer off the road and crash.
Fortunately, help arrived swiftly. A journalist from Mulund and a
doctor from Navi Mumbai, both passing through the area, immediately stopped
their vehicles to assist. The two good Samaritans assessed the woman’s
condition, administered basic first aid, and rushed her to the nearest BMC
hospital.
The journalist, finding the woman's mobile phone at the scene, promptly
contacted her husband and informed him of the accident and her hospitalization.
The woman, a resident of Nahur Gaon in Mulund, is currently undergoing
treatment. Hospital sources have reported her condition as stable.
Despite repeated awareness campaigns and numerous past tragedies,
reckless driving continues to endanger lives on Mumbai’s roads. This incident
has once again sparked concern among local residents about the lack of safety
measures on busy link roads like this one.
Locals are also blaming the ongoing construction work on the flyover,
which has remained incomplete for over 8 years. They allege that the contractor
responsible failed to install proper barricades at the diversion, creating a
hazardous situation for commuters. The bridge work was ceremonially inaugurated
Eight Years ago by former MP Kirit Somaiya, after his son, Neil Kirit Somaiya, win
the local civic elections. However, even after eight years, barely 50% of the
construction has not been completed.
Residents are now questioning who is accountable for this prolonged
delay and the lack of safety precautions, which may have contributed to today’s
