New Delhi, July 30, 2024 – Today
at Sansad Bhavan, Sanjay Dina Patil, Member of Parliament, addressed the Zero
Hour session to raise urgent concerns about the 253 acres
of salt pan lands in the North-East Mumbai Lok Sabha constituency.
Patil highlighted the Maharashtra state government's request for these
lands to be repurposed for the Dharavi Redevelopment Project. Despite the state
government’s reclassification of these salt pans, removing them from the
‘wetlands’ category, Patil emphasized their crucial role in maintaining
environmental balance and their designation within the Coastal Regulation Zone
(CRZ).
Patil warned that any construction on these lands would pose serious
threats to both the environment and public health. He firmly requested that no
development should take place on these salt pans, stressing the need to
preserve them to ensure the well-being of local residents and protect the
environment.
The issue raised by Patil in the Lok Sabha highlights the ongoing debate
between developmental projects and environmental conservation, calling for a
balanced approach that prioritizes the long-term sustainability of the region.

पॅन म्हणजेच मिठागरे काढून टाकले असले तरीही या जमिनी पर्यावरण संतुलन राखण्यासाठी
अत्यंत उपयुक्त आहेत आणि या जमिनी CRZ
मध्ये
येत आहेत. या जमिनींवरील बांधकामे निश्चितपणे पर्यावरण आणि शेवटी रहिवाशांच्या
आरोग्यासाठी धोकादायक ठरणार आहेत. आज लोकसभेत शुन्य प्रहारात सहभाग घेतला. सदर
मुद्धा उपस्थित करुन सदर जागांवर कोणत्याही प्रकारचे बांधकाम करण्यात येऊ नये अशी
मागणी केली.
