According to AIIMS, Dr. Singh was admitted after experiencing breathing difficulties and a sudden loss of consciousness at his residence earlier in the evening. Despite resuscitation attempts, he was declared dead at 9:51 PM. The Delhi Congress confirmed the tragic news, and condolences have poured in from across the country and the world.

A Legacy of Leadership and Reforms Born in 1932, Dr. Manmohan Singh began his career as an economist and rose to prominence as India’s Finance Minister in 1991. Massive Fire in Bhandup's Khindpada Industrial Slum, No Casualties Reported

 
Bhandup, December 3, 2024: A massive fire broke out near the Mulund-Goregaon Link Road in the Khindpada area of Bhandup on the evening of December 2, 2024, around 6:00 PM. The fire engulfed a large industrial slum involved in remanufacturing activities. The blaze originated near a bridge in an area filled with flammable materials such as plastic, industrial and chemical waste, discarded furniture, garage scrap, and leftover bakery waste. A towering column of black smoke from the fire was visible from a distance, as seen in this video.
 
Firefighters promptly reached the site and controlled the fire before it could spread further. Fortunately, there were no casualties or damage to industrial units.
 
However, this is not the first such incident in the area. Frequent fires have raised concerns about negligence by local authorities and residents. Allegations suggest that the Solid Waste Management Department of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's (BMC) "S Ward" has failed to timely remove waste, allowing piles of flammable materials to accumulate and pose fire hazards.
 
Additionally, local industries have been accused of carelessly disposing of and burning hazardous chemical waste, further increasing the risk of fires. Residents have also been observed engaging in unsafe activities, such as smoking near highly flammable waste.
 
"I have reported on this issue multiple times in my publication," "Negligence by the Revenue Department and the industrial sector has heightened the fire risk in this area."
 
Residents are demanding strict action against those responsible for poor waste management and negligence to prevent such incidents in the future. An investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the fire.

भांडुप, ३ डिसेंबर २०२४ : २ डिसेंबर २०२४ संध्याकाळी सुमारे ६:०० वाजता भांडुपच्या खिंडपाडा परिसरातील मुलुंड-गोरेगाव लिंक रोडजवळ प्रचंड आग लागली. या आगीने पुनर्विनिर्मिती कार्यात गुंतलेल्या मोठ्या औद्योगिक झोपडपट्टीला कवेत घेतले. एका पुलाजवळ, प्लास्टिक, औद्योगिक व रासायनिक कचरा, टाकाऊ फर्निचर, गॅरेजचा स्क्रॅप आणि बेकरीचा उरलेला कचरा यांसारख्या ज्वलनशील वस्तूंनी भरलेल्या भागात ही आग लागली. आगीमुळे निर्माण झालेला काळ्या धुराचा प्रचंड स्तंभ दूरवरून दिसत होता ते आपण ह्या विडिओ मार्फ़त बघू शकता.
 
अग्निशमन दलाच्या पथकांनी तात्काळ घटनास्थळी धाव घेतली आणि आग मोठ्या प्रमाणावर पसरू न देता ती नियंत्रित केली. सुदैवाने, कोणतीही जीवितहानी किंवा औद्योगिक गाळ्यांचे नुकसान झालेले नाही.
मात्र, या ठिकाणी अशी घटना पहिल्यांदाच घडलेली नाही. वारंवार लागणाऱ्या आगींमुळे या परिसरातील रहिवासी आणि स्थानिक प्राधिकरणांकडून दुर्लक्ष झाल्याचा आरोप होत आहे. बृहन्मुंबई महानगरपालिकेचे (BMC) “एस वॉर्ड” चे घन कचरा विभाग द्वारे वेळेवर कचरा उचलण्यात अयशस्वी ठरत असून त्यामुळे ज्वलनशील वस्तूंचे ढीग आगीला निमंत्रण देत आहेत.
 
त्याशिवाय, स्थानिक उद्योगांवर धोकादायक रासायनिक कचऱ्याची निष्काळजीपणे विल्हेवाट लावणे आणि जाळणे यांसारख्या कृतींचा आरोप होत आहे. यामुळे आगीच्या घटनांचा धोका अधिकच वाढतो. तसेच, रहिवाशांनी अत्यंत ज्वलनशील कचऱ्याजवळ बिडी, सिगरेट ओढणे व अन्य असुरक्षित कृती करताना देखील पाहिले आहे.

भांडुप, 3 दिसंबर 2024: 2 दिसंबर 2024 की शाम करीब 6:00 बजे भांडुप के खिंडीपाड़ा इलाके में मुलुंड-गोरेगांव लिंक रोड के पास भीषण आग लग गई। इस आग ने पुनः विनिर्माण कार्य में लगी बड़ी औद्योगिक झोपड़पट्टी को अपनी चपेट में ले लिया। एक पुल के पास, प्लास्टिक, औद्योगिक और रासायनिक कचरा, बेकार फर्नीचर, गैराज का स्क्रैप और बेकरी का बचा हुआ कचरा जैसी ज्वलनशील चीजों से भरे इलाके में आग लगी। आग से उठता काले धुएं का बड़ा गुबार दूर से दिखाई दे रहा था, जिसे आप इस वीडियो के माध्यम से देख सकते हैं।
दमकल विभाग की टीम ने तुरंत मौके पर पहुंचकर आग को बड़े स्तर पर फैलने से पहले ही काबू कर लिया। सौभाग्य से, इस घटना में कोई जानहानि या औद्योगिक गोदामों का नुकसान नहीं हुआ।
