Asian Palm Civet rescued from Aarey Colony by PAWS-Mumbai ACF Rescue Team

Plant & Animals Welfare Society - Mumbai and Amma Care Foundation (PAWS-Mumbai ACF) Helpline received a call at around 7 : 00 AM from Prakash Kotian stating that a  cat having face like mongoose had escaped from an accident and went inside bushes at Aarey Colony, Goregaon. Following this PAWS-Mumbai ACF Rescue Team reached the spot by 7 : 15 AM and had searched the bushes and  spotted the cat. It was Asian Palm Civet which was dehydrated and very shocked condition as it is escaped from accident,  said Honorary Wildlife Warden of Mumbai City Sunish Subramanian who had lead the rescue team.
Tanmay Kolte, a rescue team member said as soon as he went near it, the cat charged at them, so they caught it  using hand gloves. 
When we rescued the cat, it was very afraid, dehydrated and bleeding from tail portion as it got a wound. We took it to Veterinary Doctor for treatment and will be keeping it for observation till it recovers and as it is in shock, so we decided not to transport it on that day, said other rescue team member and Honorary Animal Welfare Officer Nisha Kunju.
Dr. Rahul Meshram Veterinary Doctor associated with NGO said the Asian Palm Civet cat (Juvenile) was brought to me in dehydrated condition, pus discharge from eyes and having wound at the tip of the tail, I have given necessary treatment and later feed & water was consumed by the cat.

Complaint lodged against Dr. Kirit Somaiya, M.P.

Mr. Sachin  Maruti Gharat [30] R/o, Indira Nagar, Mulund has lodged a complaint against Dr. Kirit Somaiya , M.P. for tearing currency notes.
When Dr. Kirit Somaiya was on his morning walk at Sambhaji Garden, Mulund East, he found hawkers occupying the road. The M.P. then asked the hawkers not to do their business there. Sachin had complained that Dr. Kirit Somaiya snatched the money that a customer had paid him and tore the currency notes [ one Rs.10/- note and one Rs. 20/- note ] and threw the same on the road. The vendor was then sent to the police station where he was charged a fine of Rs.1250/- The vendor too lodged a complaint against the M.P. 
However, Dr. Kirit Somaiya refuted the allegation and said that he had not torn any currency.

India shines at Karate competition held in Bhutan

In a recent karate competition held in Bhutan, 200 students from Bhutan and 150 students from India participated. The competition was held on 19th and 20th May at Thimpu, the capital of Bhutan. The competition was dedicated to the Indo-Bhutan friendship on the occasion of its 50th anniversary.
Those who won the medals include Srijit Basu, Aditya Rawat, Adharv Sawant and Manasi Bane. Miss Muktai Jadhav put up a good show by winning gold in Karate(Katha) and silver in Karate(Kumte).The event was organised by Rai, Rinjin, Bimalkumar and Dhanrai from Bhutan and Raj Kapoor, Vishal Jadhav, Nitin Kadam, Lakshman Singh and Prashant Mohite from India

22 people cheated to the tune of lakhs by a gang of seven

At a press conference conducted on 30th May 2018, DCP Akhilesh Kumar Singh gave the details and modus operandi of a gang cheating several people to the tune of lakhs of rupees.
The episode came to light with Dr. Rajsekhar Harish chandra Ujre (70), a resident of Mulund, lodging a complaint with the Mulund Police Station.




Dr. Ujre has an insurance policy with Bharti AXA.  He received a call from a person claiming to be from the insurance company. He gave the exact policy details to Dr. Ujre so that he was very much convinced of the genuinity of the call.
The caller said that a Bonus of Rs,9,46,000/- has been sanctioned on the Bharati AXA secure income plan policy held by Dr. Ujre. To avail of this , Dr. Ujre should pay a processing fee and income tax amount to the caller.  Based on this the caller was paid certain amount. The second person called up and said that the bonus is enhanced and a further amount should be paid by Dr. Ujre. In this way , a total of Rs.4,00,000/- was paid by Dr. Ujre.




This was happening over a period from September 2017, till the date of complaint.
However, Dr. Ujre found that no bonus was added to his policy. It is then that he lodged a complaint with the police.
The police arrested 7 people Rakesh Shinde (31), Ramesh Ugale (30), Murlidhar Deshmukh (37), Kumar Malusare (27), Aakash Chikle (26), Rakesh Makdum (33) and Sanjay Mankar (27). 
The police have recovered Rs.1,69,000/- in cash , 10 mobile phones , 22 sim cards , 14 debit cards , gold chain , gold rings etc. The police also found that huge transactions have taken place through bank accounts of the accused.
All the seven arrested are working in the same office of the insurance company. It has come to the knowledge of the police that 22 people have been cheated by the accused. Police have requested public to bring to their notice if any such incident has taken place with them.
The accused will be in the custody of the police till 1st June.
The investigations were carried out under the guidance of Addl. C P Shri Lakhmi Gautam, DCP Zone VII Shri Akhileshkumar Singh, ACP (Mulund)  Shri Valzade and Sr. P I Shri Shripad Kale.

Common toilet of chawl collapses in Bhandup : two dead


At around 6.30 am on Saturday, the 28th April the common toilet of SaiSadan Chawl near ShivajiTalao, Bhandup west collapsed killing two people. They got trapped under the debris of the toilet. The deceased have been identified as Babulal Devji, 46 and Lauben Dirubhai Jethava, 47.


Floor of the toilet collapsed in to the septic tank leading to fall of the structure. 
Locals started picking up the debris. In the meantime the Fire brigade and Sewage Department of the B M C arrived.

  
The NDRF too was called in.
Teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) along with their dog squad, fire brigade and sewage department carried out the rescue operations.

Wednesday 7th March 2018, Mulund, Mumbai – Along with female’s Male congress led the demand to exempt Sanitary Pads from GST on eve of World Women’s Day, in Mulund, Mumbai. Activists with enlarged replicas of Sanitary Pads hold placards with slogans demanded GST Free Sanitary Napkins for womenfolk of India.


“Menstruation of our mothers, sisters, wives, daughters, friends & other women is not a choice or luxury but a natural life cycle and only 15% women use sanitary pads & rest are either ashamed or find it costly. Since BJP led central govt has been ignorant to consistent demand made by women of India to make Sanitary Napkins GST Free thus on the occasion of women’s day we joined women to support their demand”, explained Rajesh Ingle (general Secretary of Mumbai North East District Congress) who led the initiative.

बुधवार ७ मार्च २०१८, मुलुंड, मुंबई – जागतिक महिला दिनाच्या पूर्वसंध्येचे निमित्त साधत महिलांच्या समर्थनार्थ मुलुंड मध्ये काँग्रेस पक्षाच्या पुरुष कार्यकर्त्यांनी हातात सॅनिटरी नॅपकिन च्या मोठ्या प्रतिकृती हातात घेऊन सॅनिटरी नॅपकिन वरील GST आकारणी बंद करण्याच्या मागणी केली.

 “आमच्या माता, भगिनी, पत्नी, लेकी मैत्रिणी व इतर महिलांना मासिक पाळी होणे हि नैसर्गिक बाब आहे.  देशातील केवळ १५% महिला सॅनिटरी नॅपकिन चा वापर करतात व उर्वरित महीला जागरूकते अभावी अथवा महाग असल्यामुळे त्यांचा वापर करीत नाहीत. केंद्रातील भाजप सरकार देशातील महिलांच्या सॅनिटरी नॅपकिन GST मुक्त करण्याच्या निरंतर मागणीकडे दुर्लक्ष करीत आहे व त्यामुळेच जागतिक महिला दिनाचे निमित्त साधत आम्ही महिलांसह त्यांच्या या मागणीस समर्थन देण्यासाठी पुढाकार घेतला आहे”, असे या उपक्रमचे नेर्तृत्व करणारे राजेश इंगळे (सरचिटणीस, ईशान्य मुंबई जिल्हा कॉंग्रेस कमिटी), यांनी सांगितले.

हमारी माता, भगिनी, पत्नीपुत्री, सखियाँ आदि महिलाओं को होने वाला मासिक धर्म नैसर्गिक बात है नैसर्गिक बात है.  देश की केवल १५% महिला सॅनिटरी नॅपकिन का इस्तेमाल करती हैं और बाकी महिलाएं जागरूकता की कमी अथवा महंगे दामों के चलते उनका इस्तेमाल नहीं करतीं. सॅनिटरी नॅपकिन को GST मुक्त करने की देश की महिलाओं की मांग को केंद्र की भाजपासरकार निरंतर उपेक्षा कर रही है, इसीके चलते जागतिक महिला दिन का अवसर साधते हुए हम महिलाओं के साथ मिलकर उनकी इस मांग का समर्थन करने के लिए उतरे हैंऐसा उपक्रम का नेतृत्व करने वाले राजेश इंगले (महासचिव, ईशान्य मुंबई जिला कांग्रेस कमिटी)ने बताया .
